IN THE BEAUTY OF MEMORY - OPEN CAPTIONING & AUDIO DESCRIPTION
Shot in on an England trip in March 2023 on Super 8 50D/7203. Locations visited include Bristol, Cardiff, Brean Down, and Bath. This semester, I took a course called Accessible Cinema with Malic Amalya, where we learned ways to combine creativity and professionalism when making audio descriptions and closed captioning for media. It should never be an afterthought. It should be incorporated into the pre-production process. While I am still strengthening the effort in making my work accessible, I will continue educating myself in these practices that should be the norm. This is my first crack at doing it with my own work and while it isn't exactly where I want it to be, I see room for continuous growth in my ability to caption and describe my pieces in the future. Featuring: Daniel Gomes, Liberty Henry, Mason Jeffrey, Grace Lee, Nick Renteria, and Sophie Severs. Shot and edited by Jules Saggio. Audio description, open captioning, and voice acting for audio description by Jules Saggio. All rights reserved to Sufjan Stevens and Asthmatic Kitty Records for the song "Fourth of July." Neo - The Analog Cut 2022
"Neo" is a short film I produced on a 16 mm Bolex H16 in my Introduction to Film course with Luis Arnias at Emerson College. The process began in late September of 2022 and finished in early December of 2022. I used six rolls of black and white Tri-X film and spliced them together on a Steenbeck. Then I transferred my two audio tracks from Adobe Premiere on my computer to a Mag Dubber for sound transfer. The audio tracks and image were synced on a Steenbeck and this film had its first and only analog screening on December 13, 2022. The best way to describe this piece is as vignettes of Neo, pieces of him that stand out to me and short anecdotes.
